Link to specific part of other page

I would like to link to an area of another page. This area is not at the top of the other page, it’s further down. Is there any way to do this?

This is commonly referred to as an “anchor” link, and it’s quite basic. (The funny thing is that the tag we use to link to another page is itself known as an Anchor – for short – so this is one of those overloaded terms that we all have to deal with in HTML.)

In your target page (if it’s in Freeway) select a bit of text or a graphic in the item you want to have scroll to the top of the page, and use Edit/Anchor to add the anchor. If your target page is someone else’s site, then use the Web Inspector in your browser to find the ID attribute of that item that you want to have appear at the top of the page.

If you are making a regular link to another page in Freeway, then open the Hyperlink dialog to adjust the Anchor property (this picker will appear in an Internal link, but only be populated if the page you are linking to contains anchors).

If you are linking to another site (or otherwise using the External side of the Hyperlink dialog) then you simply add the ID of the target element as the last part of the URL: Freeway Pro » Powerful web design software for Mac

The browser will do all the rest for you.

Fantastic Walter. Very easy to do and … a bit embarrassed I’ve not known about it before. :frowning:
