linking problem, or something freakie?

Is this a problem with my files, or something on the sever?
Google has indexed my pages when I had some pages in folders. I have since removed those folders.

If I type this in the url: http://www.lukaska.com/profile/
I don’t get the 404-error page, even though I don’t have a profile folder. This happens with all the main buttons on the top of my page, even though all the respective folders are gone. There are none of these folders on the server.

My 404 error page is set up, and if you typed something else, i.e. http://www.lukaska.com/asdfdsf.html, or
http://www.lukaska.com/afolder/asdfdsf.html
the error page would pop up. I’ve also got the remote resources action on, directing to www.lukaska.com.

I even removed all of the links on these buttons, set them to no link, saved, and then reset them to the appropriate page.

Any ideas? I viewed the source code from the urls online, and I don’t see anything weird…

You must do. There’s a folder called “profile” on the www.lukaska.com
domain, and it has a default page, probably “index.html”, inside.
Otherwise, that URL wouldn’t load in a page.

Nothing to do with Google, just with what’s actually on the server!
Grab a copy of Transmit and take a look.

There was a profile folder with an index page, but it is not longer there. I have confirmed it via ftp. No profile folder. GoDaddy hosting does not see a folder either.

Just spoke with the hosting company. Apparently their server is caching the previous file and folder that was there previously, but I had deleted. They are working to fix it.

I was about to suggest a cache issue, although I was skeptical about
it cacheing a complete directory. Man, that’s one aggressive cache
server! GoDaddy, huh? I’ll never touch them, that’s simply
unacceptable server behaviour for anyone doing any kind of web design
or development.
