I’ve already submitted a bug report, but didn’t think it would hurt to post it here too, as I could find no mention of it here.
When opening a site I’d made in FW4 Pro in FW5 p2 all the main heading links I’d created were suddenly completely misaligned. It’s easy to recreate the behaviour in a new document in FW5 too…
Create a graphic box
Type some headings such as “Link1 Link2 Link3 Link4”
Apply links to each heading
Preview in browser/upload site
The links don’t work properly. They’re completely misaligned or missing.
I wanted to upload my site with FW5 to get the nice fade in slide show look on the homepage and google analytics for the site, but alas am stuck with FW4 for the time being!
BTW, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I could get my site up and running from scratch.
Has nobody else come across this bug? It’s very simple to recreate! I’d also have thought it was an extremely common thing to do.
The site I’ve created in Freeway 4 won’t work properly in 5 at the moment, which is bad news for me. THe entire navigation system of my site depends upon this behaviour working properly.
I can’t seem to re-create this in FW5. Are all the links in one graphic text box? are they all in one horizontal line?

Yes, all the text is in one graphic box in one horizontal line such as :
" Home | News | About us | Contact us"
I’ve just recreated it in a new document, with a graphic box (i.e. rendered text). I created a new graphic box and just typed the links with spaces between them, selected each word and applied a link. I used all default text settings.
When you preview in browser the links don’t line up with the text “buttons”. By the time you get across to “Contact us” the links are way out (in fact in this example, there’s no link over “Contact us” at all.

This has been created in FW5 and shows that the links no longer line up with the text. I’ve uploaded a screen grab of the page view from FW5 showing a link.
The rest of the site was uploaded with v. 4.4.2 and works as it should.
You will see from the above test page link that if you click on “News”, or “Quality” the link is just about right. When you get to “About us” things start getting out of sync. By the time you mouse over to “Contact us” things are worse as half of the button goes to the wrong link, the rest is blank. The last button “Bureau” doesn’t even have an associated link.
It looks like FW5 is calculating the image map incorrectly.
Just try the same thing with a different font (try Times), and see if it still displays the same behaviour.

I have just had a play with this and also came to the conclusion that
the space was the problem. i set up a similar bar with a mixture of
links separated by 4 hard spaces and a couple of links with a soft
single space within the link. My last attempt works fine including
the links with the two words separated by a space. However my
previous attempts were displaying variations of the problem you are
finding.
My first attempt used soft spaces between links resulting in wrong
visual spacing of the links once published (as expected) but the
actual links worked OK. Without changing the links via the Command-K
dialogue I then just re-edited the spaces between links. This seemed
to break the link areas resulting in some being run together and the
last link not working at all. Trying to remove the links didn’t work
well either and resulted in weird behaviour from the resulting groups.
So I deleted the whole item and constructed it again but being
careful to add the required hard spaces between the word groups and
only applying the Command-K links after all were typed out ie not
applying the links as I went along (If the links have underline
turned off it is less easy to tell if one has inadvertently carried
the link through the space when typing on). The links now worked as
they should even with a link containing two words. Don’t know if
this helps

UPDATE:
if you use words with a space such as “Contact us” it doesn’t work.
If you use numbers such as “Link1” it doesn’t work.
If you use hyphens such as “Contact-us” it doesn’t work.
If you use any other non-alphabet characters such as “News+stuff”
it doesn’t work.
If you use JUST alphabetical characters (no space) it seems to work
OK.
ALL of the above worked in FW4. In my book, that’s a bug.
