Live information-share index monitor

I have a client who has asked me to include a small, live share index updater on his homepage. It would update the share price for their particular mineral (Mining company) every 10 minutes or so. I have no idea how this works or if at all possible.

Has anyone done something like this before?

I have done this in the past by mining the Yahoo Finance pages. What
I do is go to Yahoo, look up a particular stock, and then locate one
of the infographics that they generate from the data (usually the
nice line-graph thing). If you copy the URL to that image (Firefox -
control-click on the image and select Copy Image Location from the
contextual menu), you can then paste it into a Markup Item or into a
URL box[1] in your Freeway document. When the page is loaded, the
image will be requested from Yahoo, but because that image is
dynamically constructed by Yahoo’s server, it will be refreshed with
the latest (10 minutes delayed) data. Then just set a meta refresh on
the page to reload itself (there’s an Action for this, it comes
standard).

  1. A URL box is created by sketching a box on your page, then
changing its Type in the Inspector to URL. Select the Image radio
button, and paste the image location into the URL field.

Thanks Walter, I’ll give this a try. One thing, the “meta refresh” action, is it actually called “meta refresh”. I can’t see it in my standard actions set on Pro 4.4.1?

Thanks again for the help on this
