Good morning,

I have lost a file - but I have all the .html pages weird.

Is there a way at this time to upload the html pages to the server to recreate the website? I use cyberduck as mt FTP upload program.

One of my clients have switched to my hosting group and I need to re upload the site.

I have checked .fwbackup and .freeway in both my time matchine and my MBP. I can not find it.

THank you,

J

You can certainly upload the HTML files - just go through them with your browser to make sure that they are complete with all resources first.

> I have lost a file - but I have all the .html pages weird.

Most likely you forgot what the actual filename was!

Did you start with template - could the file have the default template name?

David

Use Safari - or another browser - and open the local index.html file and see if you can navigate through your pages without any missing images et.

If you have any php pages in there you wont be able to view them locally.

Do you have the Resources folder that goes with them?

If not can you get it from the old server? In fact can you DL the whole site from the old server?

Try logging into the old server with a normal FTP/SFTP application like Transmit. You should be dumped in a folder one level above the actual Web folder, which will be named public\_html or htdocs or something like that. All of your files, and the Resources folder, will be in there somewhere.

Simple. Make a new folder on your Mac, and select all of the files on
the server and drag them into that new folder. Now you have a complete
copy of the HTML and resources. You can cherry-pick individual files
onto the new server, or you can use your FTP application’s Synchronize
mode to upload everything, replacing only the missing or out-of-date
items.

What you can’t do is open this ball of code and photos in Freeway,
because Freeway is like Rain Man that way. Ask it to count all the
toothpicks in the box (generate perfect, valid HTML) and it will do so
every time. Ask it to read HTML, and the best you’re getting is “About
$100”.

Yes Caxton is working.

BTW - I still think that the sub menu text colour is too close to that of the menu background - hard to read! So when you rebuild you might address that.
