Lost Google Map

Hi everybody,

Please take a look at this page:
http://www.sj-creative.co.uk/fionaandsimonswedding/location.html

The space in the middle had a google map in it yesterday, but now it’s gone. Has anyone got any idea why it has disappeared?

There doesn’t seem to be any problems in Freeway, the action is there and it’s previewing fine.

Could it be that I originally uploaded the page from my iMac, then made some changes from my MacBook, so a different computer has changed it?

I have re-generated the Site Key for it and re-uploaded it but it still doesn’t work.

It’s the countdown clock on the left! If I remove it, then the map is viewable again.

How do I make it so they can both sit on the same page???

Help please! :slight_smile:

Look at the site using Firefox with FireBug installed and running. http://getfirebug.com

That will tell you what the error is, and may point you toward a solution. If nothing else, it might give you a start at googling the solution. I can’t imagine that it’s unique.

Thanks Walter,

I’ve had a look but I really don’t understand what it’s coming back to me with.

There is something about “curag” on line one, and also an error on line 708, but I can’t work out what the problem is or how to solve it :o(

Has anybody else had this issue with Google maps and another Javascript running on the same page???

Hi Walter,

I think this is the error line I’m getting:

Components.utils.reportError("Warning: unrecognized command line flag " + curarg + “n”);

Does this make any sense?

I’m not seeing any errors in Firebug at all at http://www.sj-creative.co.uk/fionaandsimonswedding/location.html and while I can see the DIV that the map is supposed to be generated from when I view source, I cannot see it in the JS-rendered source, so it looks as though the Google code has removed it from the output source in the process.

Are you sure that the domain name matches up with the domain name you used to register the Site Key?

Can you duplicate this page, and remove the countdown timer, and upload it so I can see something to compare?

I am not sure if this will help at all, but try each of these
suggestions.

Edit the setup for your countdown timer to change this line:

dateFuture = new Date(2010,04,08,14,00,00);

to read like this:

dateFuture = new Date(2010,4,8,14,0,0);

That’s the only error I am seeing in Firebug here.

Another possibility is that the window.onload event is screwing with
the body.onload event. To test that idea, edit the code in your
countdown timer widget to remove this line at the end:

window.onload=GetCount;//call when everything has loaded

Then in Freeway, open up the Page / Extended dialog, and add the
following name/value pair:

onload
GetCount();

and see if that changes anything.

The only other thing I can see on this page is that you are using
Slimbox for the popup map. Have you tested removing that effect
instead of the countdown timer, to see if there are any differences
then?

YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!

Thanks Walter, it was fixed by changing the onload commands as you suggested.

All up and running at http://www.sj-creative.co.uk/fionaandsimonswedding/location.html

I owe you a drink!
