Maddened by Horizontal Menus

Hello everyone,

I’ve been creating websites for a few years, but nothing too fancy. Most recently I’ve used iWeb and love it for how well it does somethings so easily. But the lack of tables there has driven me nuts so I’m trying FWP 5.0.

Now, the one problem on my site (http://informaorinda.com/newsite) is that I can’t get my nav/menu bar to work. First I tried making rollover text creating two graphics for each item on the list. That wasn’t working well - the dang items wouldn’t line up, or one of them decided not to roll over like the others. So, reading here I saw a post about CSS menu. That looked easy! So, I made that. But I need the menu to be horizontal, but something is happening so only the first item is showing up and none of the items at the top of my pages want to appear.

Any suggestions? You can see what I’m trying to recreate if you just drop the “newsite” part of the URL.

Thanks for your help! I’d like to find a website generator that I can live with for a long time and that doesn’t cost me a fortune - as I tend to do these sites for friends for free.

Here’s what my set up looks like on my .index page in FWP 5.0

Ok, I just kept republishing and it seems to be working now. Go figure! The spacing is a bit funky, but I’ve fussed with this enough.

Now I have to figure out the best way to have the dark green as the browser background and the light green for the pages… which was soooo easy in iWeb but seems impossible with Freeway.

With nothing on the page selected, go to the Inspector, second tab
from the left, and choose a background colour (or image). Then, with
the page selected, do the same thing and choose another colour (or
image).

Robin, I’m getting 404 (Page Not Found) when I click those links. Perhaps an idea has sprung and you’ve figured it out.

Or possibly a new link could be posted so we can see what’s going on.

I’ve moved the site to the main url: http://informaorinda.com (sorry!)

I did use one of the tips on creating a nice “frame” so that’s worked out.

Now to get the bugs out of the menu and figure out why the table on the schedule page doesn’t render properly on Firefox for the PC.
