This is a new thread for discussing recent changes and issues in the software that generates this Web forum.
@Delta Dave: Yes, you have to type three or more characters before the preview mechanism notices. This keeps the server (which processes the preview) from being flooded with requests.
Disappearing Quote Controls: I think I have figured this out, but it will take some more testing to be sure. Anyone who has had this problem, try the following.
Make sure you are logged in. Scroll to the bottom of the page and see if you have the Reply or New Thread form.
Reload the entire page. Press the reload button, and if that doesn’t do the trick, also press Option (Safari) or Shift (Mozilla/Firefox) while pressing the reload button on your browser’s toolbar.
The quote buttons are injected into the page with JavaScript, and if you are not logged in, they are deliberately hidden. This is because you don’t need them if you aren’t logged in and able to reply.

PS: I am going to try to move the extraneous bits of the “Share your favourite…” thread into this one, but that might be tricky…
The “Reload this page” button after you post a message is not working the way I want it to in Safari 3. I have to do some more work on that. It works fine in Firefox or Mozilla. If you actually press the Reload button in the browser, you should see the new post.
I saw that once, but it never repeated. Could you please try the
“super reload” (Shift or Option + the Reload button in your browser’s
window) and see if you exorcise this demon? I am thinking that you
may have a cached version of the JavaScript that does the magic here,
and I made several changes to that code yesterday.

Hi Walter
Just reading through the postings - already logged in and quote
buttons visible.
Clicked quote button to try it and then the login window appeared
as if I wasn’t, quotes buttons disappeared.
It was as if clicking the quote button logged me out.
Yes and no. It is correct in that the link goes to the page, and
should be to the top of the page, but incorrect in that half the
time, the page does not actually reload. I am working on a better
solution to this problem, but it’s going to have to wait until I find
another chunk of time to do it properly.

Actually, not that hard to implement, and if this post succeeds, then it’s even been tested and everything!
