Make new Master Page from Child page?

I created a master page and subsequently a few other pages based on the master. I made some changed to one of the child pages and want to know if I can now make that child page the Master page?

Right-Click on the child-page and be amazed by the Contextual Menu … ‘Make Master’ pretty much says it all. You’ll find it as well when you’re on the child page and select Menubar > Page > Make Master

Richard

The manual also covers this on page 34 …

Thanks… I saw that but was not sure…

Will that then label the new Master something like Master2? I assume all the pages written on the first Master will remain unchanged, is that correct?

So then if you have two Masters (which I think I need to do), when you open a new Page, does Freeway request that I specify which Master I wish to use for that page?

Yes - you can change the name of the Master to anything you like.

Yes - but you can apply the new Master to any pages you have already created if you want to change them. However you need to be careful doing this to avoid duplicated content.

Yes.

One trick I use to avoid this is to create a new entirely blank master page, and switch the page I am migrating to use that first – that removes all master elements – and then apply the new master page. You may discover in this process that some of the master elements on your page may have become un-stuck from their master equivalents, since applying the blank master should have removed them from the page.
