Mals add to cart

Good morning,

I have a technical Mals question (not a design one - dont worry - LOL)

I am trying to do the mult product dropdown with 2 color choices.

I pit the multi price select on both dropdowns (style and color)

I have added the mal’s buy text link.
here is my question:

on the action window for that it says product name / price? what would you put if its a multi selection?

I have searched through the tuts on freeway actions - but unsure how to set that up add to cart link/

am I missing something or set it up wrong?
Also, I am getting a link error??

thank you

Julie

Hi Julie,
What exactly are you trying to achieve?
For example;
T-shirt available in 6 colors and 4 sizes
All the shirts are one price ($25) but the XXL is a bit more ($30).

In this example I would add the base product to the Buy Form Setup (the t-shirt at $25), add the colors as a standard menu/ list item comment (see below), and finally add the sizes with the Multi Price Select List Action which will change the price depending on the size selected.

If you can let me know I should be able to help further. The Mals Actions have been developed to be as open ended as possible so you can stack then in various ways to get the result you need. This flexibility does, however, mean that more complex forms can take a bit of working out.

Here are a few things to remember;

  • Any given buy form can only contain one Multi Price Select list. Think about what changes the price in the form (is it the color, the size or something else) and use the Multi Price Select List Action for that part of the purchase.
  • Other elements that don’t change the price (such as color or finish maybe) can be added to the product as a note. To do this name the element ‘product1’ (without the quotes) and the text from the menu will be appended to the item in the Mals cart.
  • If the t-shirts change price depending on the size and color then you’d need to combine your menus into a single Multi Price Select List Action. Usually, however, you can find other ways or representing the item.
    Thanks,
    Tim.

Tim,

Thank you.

basically that is it.

I have 6 ring styles all available in 2 gold finishes. and I need a space for a ring size.

I have it set up on http://knightandhammermuse.com/trentabaroqueshi.html

I also need the ring size space there.

I put the form set up on the table
multi price on the kelly / leah
and the acquire is buy text link.
I also added a e-product (need a ring size)

I am getting right now link verification error. But the store works fine on other pages.

I really appreciate your help. If I can get this working, I can do it to all instead of having 2 acquires per peice.

Hi Julie,
First of all remove the Aquire text link. This isn’t submitting the form and needs to be replaced by either a standard HTML submit button or submit image. The Action you have used here is to add a single product to the cart using a text link.

A few questions:
It looks like you have 8 ring styles in two finishes (Kelly Pink and Leah Vail Yellow Gold) with the choice of finish altering the price. Do the ring styles and sizes also change the product prices (I would imagine that a large ring would use more gold than a smaller one and therefore cost more)?

As a side note I really have no idea what unit of measurement you are expecting in the Ring size input. I’d suggest either labelling it or better still replace the input with a menu picker that contains all of the sizes available.
Regards,
Tim.

in addition to the link verification issue,

I can not seem to find this answer - How do you make the shopping cart appear on a page so it looks like it is part of the webpages?

Thanks

Hi Julie,
I could see that you had the link verification switched on in the cart and assumed the issue was with the hash value you entered in the Action.

I’ve created a simple example Freeway file (which I will send you directly) that shows how I would construct this form. here is the resulting page so you can see how it functions;
http://www.freewayactions.com/test/mals/ring-example/
I had to point it to my Mals cart as I don’t have access (nor do I want access) to your secret hash code.

In terms of a running total do you mean something like this?
http://www.freewayactions.com/test/mals-extras/

If so I’ll add that to the files I send you later.

Regards,
Tim.

Running total? no i don’t think i need that - it looks like the shopping cart shows that already.

what action did you put on the ring size?

also, how do you get the shopping cart to show up like it is on the website instead of a separate entity?
example: (someone on the forum supplied this when I was starting and needed an example)

you are terrific.

Can I ask one more question:

is there a way, when someone selects a style (lets say bee) the picture can flip to the appropriate style?

and keep the Scripty lightbox 2 on it so people can click and see a bigger image?

I uploaded the page again with a different look.

Thank you again!!

Tim,

again thank you for your help. but I am having an issue.

When you go through the rings

http://knightandhammermuse.com/trentabaroqueshi.html

and you choose kelly pink - etc…

and you go to check out - the price checking out is 240 not 260.

I do know on the form on the table I followed your form put the 240 in as a price (as you have on your form) but no matter what the choice (finish) is the check out price is the 240.

HELP! LoL

Thanks

Julie
