Mal's Ecommerce

Hi,

It’s another Mal’s question, I’m using it for the first time and so far so good. I am a Freeway Pro user.

My website will be selling mp3 files as digital downloads and I have set up my database on the Mal’s website ‘Downloadable Products’ section.

I want to know how to integrate the ‘E-Buy Buttons’ in Freeway to link up with the products that I have entered into this database so that the customer, upon receipt of payment (via PayPal), can be issued with the correct link to download the track.

I have had a look through the forum and can’t find any similar issues/solutions.

Can anybody please help?

thanks

Jim

I use Tims Mals action suite and http://www.vibralogix.com Linklok script -
I’ve not long ago posed about this here on a thread with Mals in it.
It wasn’t hard to do though not just a few clicks -and I am not code savvy.
I used it for a site with paid for video downloads.
hope this helps

regards
Brian

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at the paid for actions before but i can’t see any difference from the free ones that come with Freeway Pro - except for a few more options.

I still can’t see any option that will integrate my ‘E-Buy Buttons’ with the ‘Downloadable Products’ database?

But that is also why I cant offer help as I dont use that workflow.
I also don’t use Mals downloadable products route.
all the best

I think the key to what you want is here:

First set up your database in Admin. With a free account there is a limit of 50 products, with a Premium account it is 500. To link to the database you should include the product code when you add items to the cart. This is done by placing it at the front of the description followed immediately by a colon and a space ": ". For example;

< input type=hidden name=product value="pr1001: Small widgets" >

So what I would try, using your Ebuy button, insert the product code (from the download database) followed by a colon and a space and then the normal product description in the Product box in the action window. As in the example above. Making sure that prices etc. all match.

Untested but give it a go.

Dave, thanks for your reply. I’ll give that a go and post my results back here in due course.

Hi Dave,

I tried your suggestion and it works perfectly. It picks up the information on Mals that I entered into the database and works everytime - thanks!

Hi, Jim and Dave –

I have a follow-up question to the one Jim posed.

I have the same need, which is to allow people to buy a product via Mal’s ecommerce and then get a link emailed back to them so that they can download the file.

My question is this – if I have a page on the site that contains the file the person bought, couldn’t someone visiting the “site map” sneak into that page through a back door? In other words, how do I keep people who haven’t paid for the downloadable product from clicking on my “site map” and finding the file that way?

What’s the solution to that?

Thanks,
Jamie

Now I haven’t actually used this part of the system myself but this is what Mal’s says about the subject

Some goods that you sell may be shipped on the internet itself, for example, software for download, MP3 music files or access to protected web pages with valuable information. To do this you need some way of presenting information or links on the final exit page of the cart. That is the purpose of the download transaction system.

The download system only works with secure exit pages hosted here.

There may well be more info on the Mal’s site about this.

Thanks, Dave. I’ll take a deeper dive into the Mal’s site to see what they say.

Other people on this list have mentioned something called LinkLok,
which works with the Mals Cart.
