I’m using Intaglio for mechanical design & drafting of machines. It would be a big help if there were library objects for the basic elements of mechanical design, such as screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc. Are there libraries of such elements? Or is Intaglio mainly aimed at architectural and design, and isn’t really well-suited for mechanical design work? Thanks for any help.

Intaglio is intended to be a general purpose drawing program much as
the original ClarisDraw. ClarisDraw had several libraries ranging
from Animals to World Maps that did include architectural elements
but no mechanical elements. I find Intaglio well suited to
mechanical work and have just made up mechanical elements as needed.
I know how time consuming it is to create a bolt from scratch and had
often wished to have an object library to draw from. Perhaps a file
section could be set up on Freeway where users could contribute
library elements. It would need to be clear that only
non-copyrighted objects could be contributed, but it might be helpful
for those of use who do more “draftsperson” work than “artist” work.

Thanks, Jack. Given the tradeoff between making mechanical elements to use in ClarisDraw vs. climbing the learning curve of a more mechanical design-specific package, I think I’m at the point where I should do the latter. Which I’m not looking forward to, as I appreciate Intaglio’s combination of ease of use and capability for general drawing tasks.
