"Menu Bar" action broken in FW5 Pro?

My web site uses the “Menu Bar” action. I haven’t made any changes to the action or it’s settings but I noticed it isn’t working since I upgraded to Freeway 5 Pro.

Is this action still supported?

I am having problems with this too, and at least one other post has gone unanswered. Could someone please check into it? In my case I have a lot of items to list under four or five headings. The first time I made the menu bar it worked perfectly. After I started rearranging things on the lists. It quit working. New attempts (start over) have also failed. Maybe we need a mini tutorial on this, please? As I have more time, I will try the menu list, but initial attempts haven’t worked for me yet.
Thanks a bunch,
Vicki

Hi Vicki,

I’m afraid I don’t have immediate comments. Well, other than just a
very gentle reminder that this isn’t an official support forum -
we’re all just helping each other out when we can think of
suggestions.

Huh. And now I feel a bit churlish… let’s see.
You’re using the process that turns lists to CSS menus, right? Could
you describe how you make the lists?

I assume that you can get short lists to work. Are you able to add a
few items to the list and still have it working? Could you posibly
keep going like this, adding a few items at a time, and see if things
fail and when?

Mine works perfectly. I had to adjust it slightly though. Well worth checking the settings again.

Earlier today I said:

My apologies, I think I’m talking about something different. Must be
time to take a break.

I don’t know if there is some misunderstanding here or not. But just to clairfy…

I am using the “Menu Bar” action, not the new CSS menus. This worked great before Freeway Pro 5 but now the sub-menus do not appear.

Just a quick thought about this

If you have your menu bar selected - when you view the action settings in the action window have you checked the obvious thing - that the menu items (table) drop down list contains the the correct item ie. the name of your menu items table.

It is possible that this link has become disassociated in the transfer to 5

Of course if it is not correct make sure that you reselect it on your Master Pages.

Thanks for the post.

Just checked again. The table is selected.

Yes, mine is selected also. I’ve nearly worn out my mouse selecting and deselecting it. The puzzling part is that it did work once. I don’t know if it was on the first release or the next update that it stopped. I have five menu titles with Menu Bar action attached to it. Next I have a table with the Menu Items. There are five columns and the longest one has 17 lines with five categories and three have submenus.

After it worked the first time, I wanted to rearrange the items a bit to other headings and it never worked again. I’ve tried the submenus with the “list” feature arrow and also with the + sign in front.
Ideas?

Thanks for the post.

Just checked again. The table is selected.

Started a new page tonight, removed the “List” option and used only the “+” in front of submenus. It is now working again in Preview and Firefox, hooray! Also, the decorative button effect behind the menu bar needed to be moved forward, and that is probably what the problem was.
