Menu not working

All I mean is that when someone goes to your domain name, that they
see an HTML file hosted from your server, not a cloaking frameset.
Once you sort that out, you will have a much longer lever to move the
world.

First, and simplest, get a real domain and a real hosting location

Bit confused… What do you mean my real? The domain name is
registered to 123 reg and the hosting is from the Freeway suggested
Ineedwebhosting - Are these incorrect?

I knew that about text images and have used html text rather than an
image… I also understand about writing with your keywords in mind
for web copy but we’re not really at that stage yet…

Walt simply means that your url should read www.millsandmills.co.uk, not 79.170.44.152/millsandmills.co.uk/. If your domain name is millsandmills.co then you need to get a host that allows the use of that as the sole address.

I see, so I have to transfer my domain to the hosting so not to frame it?

I was told in the past that its a bad idea to have your domain and hosting in the same place…

You don’t have to host at the same vendor. Any reputable host will do.

Cool so I am currently in the process of updating our IPSTAG, from what I can see, this will go some way to resolving this issue… (Hopefully!).

Thanks again for the advice guys… I know it can be frustrating to explain these things to a novice  Fingers crossed this will help!

I think you may be confusing a few terms here. Hosting, Domain Name
Server (DNS), and Domain Registry can be all different providers, or
you may choose to pool them together.

If you want to reduce the possible points of failure, I recommend that
you completely separate these services, that way a failure in one
location can be recovered very quickly, and the odds of all three
failing are miniscule. I register my domains at NetworkSolutions in
Virginia, host my DNS from easydns.com in Canada, and serve some of my
sites from San Diego at Joyent, others at Modwest in Montana, some at
Rackspace in Texas, and a few in my own basement.

But if you really trust your provider (it’s not a bottom-feeder like
GoDaddy, f.e.) then you can put them all together in one place.
ineedwebhosting.co.uk is extremely trustworthy, in my experience.

Where did you purchase/register the domain name, and who hosts the DNS
for you? Is ineedwebhosting your hosting provider, or your DNS, or
your registrar?

I’m gonna go with 123Reg for the registrar and DNS and Ineedwebhosting for hosting…

Since we are mentioning GD - Bob P has created some controversy with his latest antics.

I do use him for registration - but definitely NOT hosting.

Hi John,
Moving the domain name hosting over to I Need Web Hosting is certainly one option (and will get you where you want to be) but I thought I’d mention that I also use 123-reg for buying and hosting domains and simply point each to the correct site using their control panel. You can easily specify the correct name server for each domain using the Change Nameservers (DNS) option under the Advanced Domain Settings section.
The benefit (albeit slight) is that you can repoint your domain to another host should you need to at short notice.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim,

That’s what I thought I was doing with frame forwarding, I thought i’d also changed the nameservers to Ineedwebhosting… I have just transferred the domain and now the source code is visible so should be better from the advice given…

I’d still appreciate someone double checking to make sure its right (if you don’t mind)

Hi John,
This all looks perfect. I can see from a WhoIS that the domain name is now looked after by I Need Web Hosting which is different to what I was saying but none the less good as it keeps the site and the domain name together in the same account.
http://www.123-reg.co.uk/order?action=whois&page=whois&domain=millsandmills.co.uk

The ‘framed site’ option a lot of domain registrars offer is easy to set up but falls foul of being a quick fix. What you have now is a lot better from an SEO standpoint as well as a user one.
Regards,
Tim.
