Messy/wrong code?

Hi,

This is my first post here so please be gentle (and not too technical).

I’m not a programmer so I only have a very limited understanding of html code. But I like to learn and do things myself, so I’ve decided to make my own website: http://www.alpinetreks.co.uk.

I switched to Freeway fairly recently (from iWeb) as it seemed like it was easy to use, whilst offering a lot of functionality. So far, I’ve been very happy, but, when I’ve dared looking at the page source in my browser, I’ve noticed that the code for each page looks extremely long. It’s particularly the bits before the actual section that worries me.

I was wondering if one of you experienced people would help me by having a quick look at the code and tell me if it’s all normal or whether I’ve done something seriously wrong? It’s particularly the bits inside the: that looks wrong.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Mark

Hi Mark

The messy code ist just the CSS-Styles, which are included in the html file instead of an external file.

It depends on your settings in ‘document-setup’, tab ‘output’. Check the box at ‘external stylesheets’ and then regenerate the code.

Hmm - he probably even means the if “” endif stuff?

There is nothing wrong cause it is the IE compatibility.

The lower the IE version you choose (inspector third tab), the bigger the “mess” - no, the more restrictive Freeway has to handle styles. I would choose “normal” in this setting (btw).

There is a source missing (403 forbidden) message from the cloudfront (query.min.map) that would me scare more - or at least not explainable for me (btw).

Cheers

Thank you Beat, that calms me. I thought I’d accidentally done something wrong which would mean that the pages would take too long to load or worse…

I don’t like to look at it so I’ll take your advice and change the ‘document setup’ settings for next time I publish.

Thanks again,
Mark

Yes, I was wondering about that too, but there was less of it so I wasn’t too woried about that.

However, I have no idea about that source missing (403 forbidden)? Should I worry?

Thank you,
Mark
