I have a Samson C03U that I really like for this purpose. ~$99. Get the pop screen and shock mount, too. Looks impressive that way, and it’s dead quiet.

Can anyone who does screen casts or any kind of instructional videos recommend a good microphone to use?
I don’t think the built in mic on the iMacs we have are gonna cut it.
Yes, the Samson CO3 is USB, and I highly recommend it as well. It has three different pickup patterns, cardioid, figure 8 and omni, so it’s suitable for almost any need.
So, while we’re on the subject, what screen recording software do you guys use? I’ve narrowed my search down to Camtasia for Mac and ScreenFlow.
IShowU, which is shown in that screen cast Thomas linked me to, looks good, too, but it seems there are extra steps for compressing and preparing the videos for upload, where it looks to me that those features are built into the other two software.
I like ScreenFlow as well. When preparing tutorials I sometimes record the voice over separately using Audacity and paste it in later.

That link was very helpful. Thanks, Thomas.
