Migration of resources for 4 Pro project after 5 Pro upgrade

Under 4 Pro, with the top-level folder, I created other folders for
little image, background, texture, etc. files, with folder names like
“widget-images” and so on. With the new structure for 5 Pro (i.e. no
top-level folder containing the program), I moved all the little files
into a Resources folder inside the project folder. However, when I go
to preview, both internally and externally, I get error messages like
the following:

Publish Problems
June 29, 2008 5:53:17 PM

RESOURCE CANNOT BE FOUND. The following resources cannot be found.
The file Macintosh HD:Applications:Freeway 5 Pro:widgets -
images:louie.jpg for this graphic cannot be found. The preview image
will be used instead (output quality may be lower).
The file Macintosh HD:Applications:Freeway 5 Pro:widgets -
images:bluebutton.jpg for this graphic cannot be found. The preview
image will be used instead (output quality may be lower).

[other entries omitted]

When I use Transmit to update my web site, it looks okay.

Is there an easy way to have 5 Pro look in the right place for all the
images, rather than continuing to look in the older subfolders which
no longer exist?

Hi Jim

You shouldn’t be putting this sort of stuff in the Freeway app folder.

You should have folders set up under Documents>Clients or something similar to store all this stuff.

Once you have created such a file structure then wirth the FW doc open then Edit>Resources and you will see a list of all the resources used in that doc.

Click on the filename of one that has status>missing then click the edit button Bottom Right

New window opens and there is a button called Locate which when you click it will allow you to navigate to where you have moved your resources.

Once you have the missing resource then click Open (Bottom right) to update.

At this point FW may well tell you that there are other missing resources located there as well and update them too.

If this is the case then you probably only have to go through this process for a few of your missing resources.

And BTW Dont Mess with the FW created Resources Folder - This should be treated as a NO GO area.

FW manages it for you.

By all means put your widget images in a ‘Media’ folder inside your Client’s Folder.

That’s just it: there is no longer a Freeway app folder. Under the
latest versions of 5 Pro, all we have is the Freeway app object.

I hope it works that way. Thanks!

It doesn’t matter, as you don’t (or shouldn’t) keep any of your files
in the application folder, even if there is one.
You keep them in a separate place, such as the ‘Sites’ folder that OS
X has by default, or perhaps your Documents folder. If I make a new
site, I make a folder in the Sites folder with the client’s name on
it, then a folder inside that for pictures, logos and other bits, then
I make another folder which will be the ‘site folder’ itself, the one
I publish into.
