I have this action and used it the other night however when I went back into Freeway to update something and re-uploaded, all the content I had put in through MiniCMS was erased. Does anyone know a work around solution for this?
Note: Due to the way mini CMS 2 works, if you upload your Freeway site after changes have been made via the mini CMS 2 web interface, those changes can be wiped out by the upload. You should finalize your design and site in Freeway before beginning to make edits in the mini CMS 2 admin.
Seems that you have to be 100% sure that you’re happy with your site before you start with using miniCMS. This makes the action/CMS kinda useless… or am I missing something?
Sorry for not replying sooner, but it looks like you have your answer. I’m also sorry you lost your content and didn’t catch this condition sooner.
If you know you’re going to be updating the site with Freeway, you should make sure you copy the content you put there with miniCMS so you can restore it.
(An aside: When I originally worked to create the miniCMS Actions, miniCMS had several versions. One was a flat file like the current version, one was database driven. That was the version that attracted me to the product. When they went to miniCMS 2, they went to just the flat file version, unfortunately. It obviously still works with Freeway, but isn’t nearly as flexible as we would like.)
A flat file shouldn’t be a problem if it’s left on the server. With Web Yep, which uses a very basic file system, there’s a data file which doesn’t not get overwritten by Freeway and can even be relinked if you change URL addresses, with just a little work in text editor. If you FTP a MiniCMS site could something similar be found? (Or does it alter the page HTML produced by Freeway?).

I think for simple blocks of editable data Pulse CMS is a simpler and easier option to use. It’s also a flat file structure with all the content in a data file.
