Missing actions?

Yesterday I wanted to create a quick gallery presentation of images for a site of mine and a fellow Freeway user suggested that I should use the new Moo actions in version 5 but they don’t seem to be there in my copy.

I ended up doing the work in Rapidweaver using their photo album with a Flash presentation but it would have been nice to have the option in Freeway. Now that I have just installed the final release of version 5, I still can’t see any sign of these gallery actions which the other Freeway user thought was included as standard, so I had to ask why are we not seeing the same actions?

The Mootools Suite is not from Softpress therefore does not come with FW5. You can find it here:

That’s what I figured but the other user was fairly convinced that the Moo suite was somehow included with FW5.

The other user may be confusing the MooTools actions with the new
Scriptaculous actions. There is no gallery action in the Scripty side
of things, though.

Very possibly. Now I just need to find the Scriptaculous actions!

David,

Sorry I can’t offer you any solutions, but I should tell you that in my Safari your menus look OK, but in Firefox they are truncated. I have been having the same problem with CSS menus and was hoping that the final version would solve the problem with more settings, but it hasn’t.

It seems like it all depends on the browser font and font size settings of the viewer. If this is the case, then it’s important to provide extra width or height in each cell for the graphic or text to expand or shrink. In Freeway, I believe the height automatically expands, which is maybe why there is no height setting.

It would make more sense to be able to have setting options based on whether one chooses horizontal or vertical menus. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the coding can explain why this isn’t the case.

The only thing to do is override the CSS menu action by adding markup and using your own styles, which defeats the purpose of the action and, to some extent, the software.

As Freeway claims, it is easy to make CSS menus, but only if you settle for the generic kind.

If I am wrong about all this, I’d love to stand corrected and find out how to build elegant CSS menus easily.
