Missing fonts

How come some of my fonts are not available in the GIF text list? In particular I cannot get Beetle.

Is there a way to install it? I could not figure out a way to add any fonts.

Thanks.

Bumped.

Surely someone has an answer for this.

What format are these fonts? If you single-click on the font file in
the Finder, and press Apple-I, what does the Finder report as the file-
type?

Freeway Pro can use most forms of fonts, but they have to be enabled
by the System before you start Freeway. Can you see Beetle in other
applications, but not in Freeway? If so, have you tried quitting
Freeway and starting it up again?

I can use this font in other programs with no problems.

Yes, I’ve restarted Freeway hundreds of times. In fact the font was on the machine prior to Freeway and it has never shown up.

It is a Datafork TrueType font, which I have other fonts of that type that Freeway shows.

Strange.

I agree – that is odd. Send the font to Softpress support – they
have a menagerie of misbehaving fonts there that they use to break
test versions of their software. If they can’t get it working for you
in this version, maybe the next will work around whatever is throwing
it a curve.

Although this will cost some do re me, you could try converting the font with a tool like TransType Pro - TransType 4. Universal font converter by FontLab. and move it to Open Type font, for example. Cannot say that will solve your problem though…

When I looked up this font, I found it in the T26 Foundry library as a
Postscript only font. Not knowing the pedigree of this particular font
in question, it has been noted in past discussions that Freeway has
some issues with certain, and rare, font types. Emphasis on ‘rare’.

So if this may be a case of dodgy font lineage, I agree that font
conversion may strip away or restore whatever will make this font
recognizable to Freeway. If it was me, I’d evaluate just how much of
the font I would need and either buy the T26 version or use what I
have to make headlines in photoshop or illustrator. Or guide the
client towards a font that works better.

Cheers,

Hi George,

Try going to Edit>Fonts and clicking the Errors button. Freeway will
detail any fonts it has trouble with there.

Thanks for all the help.

This font does not show up in the Font Problems list.

I’ll see about getting a similar font to use.

I got a version of Beetle from clipart.com (glad I have a subscription) that Freeway recognizes.
