.mp4 not appearing

Hi guys,
I have a mp4 movie that doesn’t appear if it’s on anything other than a page that has nothing behind it.
I want a sky background behind the movie

I’ve tried it on top of a graphic item and on a html item - nothing. Remove the item it is on top of and it works fine.
Page html5, Freeway Pro6, layered page.
Probably something dead simple I’m missing…

Any suggestions

A link would help to diagnose it.

How are you adding the movie - are you using an Action.

I’ll put something up and let you have a look.

Adding basically as Freeway say, by dragging the mp4 onto the page as a pass through. I’ve tried adding the background later and sending it to the back, but no joy. No Action used.

Not seeing that issue here - drag mp4 to FW page, draw html item over, set colured background and send to back.

Works fine.

David,
Here is the quick Freeway doc and the mp4 - see if it happens to you if you don’t mind. I’ve put the movie on twice - once on the background - wont play and the second below the background - does play. Or is it just me?

But as the movie file is not included with the FW doc I cant test it. That is why it is much easier to test/debug online.

Got it - must be blind.

With your video item selected look in the Inspector.

Under the 3rd Tab change the Type to Qucktime.

I suspect your video file is not saved/exported with the correct encoding.

And dont forget you will need fallback formats for other Browsers

David,
Thanks for the comeback, but with it changed to Quicktime instead of Movie in the Inspector the animation doesn’t loop even with the options set to no controls, loop etc. But as you can see from the file it works OK as an mp4 as long as it is not on a background…? I need this to constantly loop on loading - no controls.

The animation is converted from a .swf through Handbrake and converted to H.264 codec. Do you think H.265 would work any better?

Thanks

It works for me on a BG with the following settings

Thanks for still looking…
Yes it works in Firefox now - I used the same settings, BUT it doesn’t repeat as a Quicktime movie in Chrome for some reason. It comes to the end of the sequence and stops, and the start arrow on the controller appears again. I need it to repeat ad nauseam with no input from the viewer.

Use “Movie” instead of “Quicktime” in the Inspector and it works correctly, but ONLY if there is no background - on the background it does not appear at all.

Weird… can you check in Chrome on your computer - I’m using Version 43.0.2357.65 (64-bit)

Chrome tells me it is up to date Version 37.0.2062.124

Yosemite 10.10.3 and it works fine - repeats OK

I now have Chrome 43 and I am having the same issue - not looping.

Might be worth having a Google to see if it is something that Chrome Dev team recognise as an issue.

OK - try it again - http://www.deltadesign.co/lasertest/index.html - you will probably have to refresh to clear the cache.

I have added the Html5 Video action to the Video using the settings Theora: None, Autplay: Yes, Loop: Yes, Conrols: None, Auto Buffer: yes

Again this is strange - downloaded the action, tried to apply it to the video - the action is not in my list of actions!!!???

Item - Action, or via the Action panel the only thing beginning with H is “Hide Slaves”

Does it only work in Freeway below 6?

My example is FW6

Are you trying to attach it to your existing video container (as I did) or to a new html item.
