multiple images + tiling backgrounds

Is there a way to select more than just one image and have them tiled on a page with individual settings?

Thanks!

I’ve tried to figure this out myself… you can do it in DW, but so far I can’t see how to do it in FW? I’m assuming you mean tile one image at the top of a page, and a different one at the bottom of the page? You can tile html boxes that way, but not graphic boxes.

That’s exactly what I mean, yes! Really hope this is possible!

In Freeway 4 and 5, you can add a separate background image (graphic)
to each HTML element on the page, and to the page itself.

Freeway 5: Draw an HTML box, click on the paintbrush icon in the
Inspector, and in the Background segment, use the Image picker to
select an image. Set the tiling options.

Freeway 4: In the Styles palette, create a new style with a
background image. (Confusingly, this option is hidden in the
Character styles.) Click on the HTML element you want to add the
background image to, and apply the style you just created. You won’t
see anything in the design view, but it will be there on preview or
publish.

Both: Click on the pasteboard and use the Image picker to set a
background for the page itself.

You can do this over and over on every element on the page, and (new
in Freeway 5) you can see the result in the design view!!

Thanks for the quick reply.

All this I knew, but how to add multiple tiling images to a page without html boxes? This I can’t figure out Or am I missing something here?

You can’t have multiple background images on a page. Just the one.

You can in CSS3, but that only works in Safari at the moment.

That’s interesting! How does it work? Do you get the option to show
one, then the other, or choose between them, or do you get the option
to actually show both at once in some manner?

They’re all showing at the same time. But you can make one image
“stick” to the top of the page, and a different one to the bottom. I
saw this in Surfin’ Safari at least a year ago, no idea if it’s in
the shipping Safari 3 or not, but you can look up the CSS3
recommendations at W3 and see how to indicate it to the browser
there. It’s definitely not something that’s built into Freeway!

I actually came across this option while testing Flux, a fairly new Mac-only webdesign program. I’ve made a short movie of how this works in Flux - it can be seen here:

(movie is 4.7mb)
