Multiple Text Links to Open in One iFrame

I want to be able click on the names in the left side (bottom) of this page and have the information open in an iFrame on the right side. There will be up to 20 names, and I don’t know how to accomplish this with an iFrame. Maybe it’s not even an iFrame that I want. What I don’t want is to click the name link and have people to go to another page or open a new window. Is this possible? I want it all to take place on this page.

Any ideas for me?

Name your iframe something memorable, then set the ‘target’ attribute of your links to that name. So if you called your iframe ‘middle’, then when you are making your links, you would enter the word ‘middle’ (without quotes) in the Target field of the Hyperlink dialog.

I’ll be darned. Thanks very much. That works exactly like I want it
to. I never knew you could do that.

Hi Robin,
Use the iFrame action (ActionsForge - The Complete Repository of Freeway Actions) to
create an iFrame on your page. You can then make your links open in the iFrame
simply by specifying the iFrame’s name as them link target in the hyperlink
dialog box.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi TIm,

Can you give more detailed instructions on how this works…where and
how do you insert the instructions in the hyperlink dialog box.

I’ve tried it 100 different ways and I’m missing it. Thanks,

Bill

Bill, first you have the page where you have placed your iFrame. Let’s
call that “Dogs.” Insert your iFrame on that page.

Next, you need the page that will appear IN your iFrame. Let’s call
that “DogsList.”

Select the iFrame on the “Dogs” page and look at the Action window. At
the very bottom of the iFrame Action window, there is a field for a
“name.” Call it something distinguishable like "DogsListFrame.

Link your text on the “Dogs” page to the “DogsList” page, just like
you would any other internal link. The only thing you do differently
is to add the name of the iFrame – what you called it in the Action
window – into the target field. You probably use the target field for
_blank or _parent, usually, but in this case, you are going to type in
the name of the iFrame itself, not the name of the page that APPEARS
in the iFrame.

I hope that is clear, because I was confused, too.
