My site loads really slow! Neewbie Help

My boyfriend and I just build our 1st freeway site. I am a photographer, so my site is all graphic boxes with jpegs, rollovers, & text as graphic. When I look at it on my computer its fine but on others, as it loads or goes from page to page, the pics load down the screen & the code of text is visible before it loads.
Questions - is this my server or how I set up freeway? It is really going to hurt my photo business. I use freeway pro 4 - site is unix
In graphic Item box I selected, Layer - Publish - Show - Combine w Children - Type is jpeg - quality 100% - Billinear - Alt Txt. I hope this helps. We used trial & error with the settings. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It might help a bit if you could post the address of your web site.

Make sure you include the http:// bit.

Cheers

Welcome to Freeway - with a few more trials and not too many errors you’ll soon be solving your own problems. For now, as Heather says (in the message that’s arrived as I write this one), give us your full URL (http:// etc.) so we can have a look.

In the meantime two things spring to mind. The size of you photos may be a problem if you have only used large images as 100% JPEGs. It’s best to use a thumbnail gallery with each picture linked to a larger version. Also, try your JPEGs at 60% -80% - you will notice very little difference at screen resolutions.

As for copy matter, using text as a graphic doesn’t help. I know it means you get the font and type layout to appear in a specific way, but you can still get good looking type formatted in HTML, even though there are restrictions to choice of font.

When a few of us have seen your site, I am sure one or more of the FW gurus will swiftly come to your aid.
