Hello Walter, i see your own web side walter davis studio … Give me liberty and the good service side will be like the coop+green in some part … it will be fine if you can have a look on the example: www.stanglmeier-bau.de … all is handmade without code and in the future it should be more like: www.stanglmeier-bau.de/einloggen.html and the great mother of all should be: www.coop-green.de
Meanwhile i discuss with my software dev, but i understand … to less and i try to translate:
-Wenn Du im Freeway, Eingabefelder so bearbeiten kannst, dass diese Felder mittels “POST-Methode” Werte für Variablen in Skripten setzen, kannst Du schon mal Input-Felder für die DB erstellen, z.B. für die Registrierung neuer Benutzer.
Can i edit in freeway an input field to use the “post-methods” to set values/results for variables?
Absolutely. Freeway is a completely flexible tool, and can do almost anything. Sometimes too much understanding of the HTML and PHP can blind you to the obvious, also Freeway tends to err on the side of designers when it comes to naming things – it skips the technical and correct name in favor of the one that’s familiar from Desktop Publishing.
-Wenn Du an beliebigen Stellen (z.B. im Textfeld eines Paragraphen) kleine Skripte einfügen kannst, steht auch dem Output nichts im Wege.
Can i set in freeway at “any place” (maybe in a textfield of a paragraph) a small script?
Sure. That’s done using the Insert / Markup Item menu command, or my CrowBar Action for more technical results.
I think, i am going to shoot this man!!! He refuses, shaking his head to deal with freeway.
Learning to use Freeway and write Actions was my first adventure in learning to program. I don’t use Freeway that much any more, I use Rails and Ruby and a text editor for most things I do. I stick with this community out of friendship and thankfulness to the people who helped me on the way up. I would not have the career I do today if it were not for the FreewayTalk community and their tireless patience with me in the early days.
Many programmers have this elitist view of the world – that their way is the only true way. And that’s sad, because we all have something to give one another.
I was a presenterat the Softpress booth at MacWorld in New York and San Francisco for several years. (I also designed their booths!) One of my favorite games to play was to find the person in my audience who was standing with their arms crossed (perhaps with a shaved head or too much hardware poking through their face) and show them the following demo. As quick as I could, I would sketch out a real-looking page on screen. Press preview in browser, and then view source. Stunned, slack-jawed expressions. Then I would change the page to use tables for layout, then back to layers. View source all the way through. More silence and awe. Then I would do some patter about how the client just walked in, and wanted the font to change in all the graphics in the site. And change that (since it was Graphic Text set in Freeway, and the font specifications were in the global styles palette for the site). Then I would explain how Actions work, and show them how to write one. That’s when they would be scheming to figure out how to get their work to buy them a Mac (this was the early 00s, and the tech side of the house looked like an IBM booth).
