New Site - Explorer Problems

Hi All

Just finished the following site:

www.neptune-environmental.co.uk

Site works fine in Safari and Firefox, but does not work that well in Internet Explorer.(ie non othe actions work).
I would imagine that a very high percentage of people point to this site would be using Explorer.
Any advice/comments greatly received.
Regards
Mike

Update

Just done the “Preview in Browser” option in Freeway, which I thought I had done anyway. Site works fine.
As soon as I go to the live site in Explorer is when the problems occur.
Cheers
Mick

I just loaded up the site and here’s a few suggestions.

  1. I’d drop the loading screen with the “enter site”. On my screen size here, 1900x1200, the bottom navigation (which I didn’t see at first) is showing at a 1028px height which means that nobody is going to see the bottom navigation plus you’re killing yourself in terms of SEO because there’s not much content on that first page.

  2. I’d like to see some consistency with perhaps adding the site’s URL to the title and being more descriptive with your page titles. For instance:

INTRO PAGE

could be:

neptune-environmental.co.uk | Serving the HAVAC industry with over 20 years of commercial experience

I’d also suggest you review your SEO options. As of right now you have a META tag of keywords for the search engine on that INTRO PAGE, but like one or two of them are actually on that page. But the page that you go to has no META keywords on it with words (but do exist in the list of keywords on the first page) that are actually on the page. Basically saying that you’re not going to get indexed well if search-ability matters to you.

Thanks for the input - but was looking for answers to page loading in Internet Explorer.

Well, how about specifics for IE? Which version, 6, 7, 8?

Internet Explorer 6 is only barely worth worrying about; those using
it will be very used to web sites behaving oddly. In fact, they
probably wonder what all this Internet hype is, as it never works
very well for them!
Make sure that in the Document Setup dialog (File > Document Setup)
the IE Compatibility option is set to IE6/IE7 as this will take care
of most of the issues where IE6 has a snowball’s chance in getting
right.

Internet Explorer 5… oh my goodness. Don’t waste a breath over
that. It didn’t work all that well back in prehistoric Internet
times, and it is long dead and buried now. CSS, modern JavaScript -
I’d be surprised if any of that worked!
