Julie,

I had an SSL for one of my sites. Best thing to do is CALL because it’s a chore othewise. They will walk you through the process. I think they have to send an email somewhere and then you have to reply. I believe it was $30 for a year and you can’t transfer it to any other website so make sure the URL is going to stay the same. I had a GoDaddy geek walk me through it and it took maybe 15 minutes because I was slow.

HE might have to do it if it’s HIS account.

It was over a year ago, and it was a shopping cart program I was paying GoDaddy for, but as I recall, it simply showed up at the bottom of the home page. My guess is that it is shows a secure server and therefore the logo (and the tech magic behind it) are somehow LOCKED into that URL. I mean, otherwise you could cut and paste the SSL in any old site you wanted like the ‘Made in a Mac’ logo. I have had generally very good luck with both phone and email support from GoDaddy. Apple is the best, but GD is not bad.

So the short answer is, I believe, the SSL will magically appear somehow. Hey, stranger things have happened. I’ll see if I can find out more in the morning.

Found this on the GoDaddy help page. It IS something HE will have to do as it is his account. They WILL talk you through it over the phone, though. They are not as . . . gentle . . as the Apple support but they’re close:

After your certificate request is approved, you can download your primary and intermediate certificate from within the SSL application.
To Download your Certificate

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. In the My Products section, select SSL Certificates.
  3. Next to the certificate you want to manage, click Manage Certificate.
  4. From the Filters list, click Certificates and then click the common name for the certificate you want to download.
  5. Click Download.
  6. From the Server type field, select the server on which you’re installing the certificate.
  7. Click Download Certificate and specify a location to save the file.
  8. Click Close.

There is also a page called SSL Installation Instructions which says you will get an email that allows you to download the certificate, which much be installed on your website. The procedure is determined by your choice of Web server software. NOTE: If your Web servers is operated by an ISP or hosting service, the provider/service will install your certificate.

Let’s hope that means it appears magically???

Because when I clicked on further info it talked about keychain access . . huh???

Good Luck!
