Should the Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest icon links to those services?

Considering how long this feature is requested (even before FW5) and the 5 years between the release between Freeway 5 and 6 … I certainly hope this process of (total) rebuilding process already is near completion :S

When this process takes so much longer than the development of Freeway 6 did, we have to wait at least for 5-6 years from now.

No need to jump to conclusions or assume the worst.

Since you asked, I think you could do more to give your pages semantic
value. There’s really not much there for search engines to digest.

To be more content-rich you’ll need to add text headers and think a bit
about your content structure and the overlaying presentation.

Showcase sites can be hard, but I think you can build on what you have
there.

It’s a matter of fact I did. For some reason my reaction on another topic got on this thread, might have something to do with the fact that I (like often) Cmd+Click on various topics, and then read them one at a time, sometime respond to them. Even though that for a fact I did post the reaction on the right page, it turned up here.

ok - cool what would be a more appropriate size? 960? 1060?

Hi Julie,

now I’ve already intruded your post earlier, I might as well respond to your request

Please don’t feel offended, I don’t know your skills, neither don’t I know what history you have in design. Even though I do speak english, it’s not my native language, so my remarks can sometimes come across a lot more blunt than I mean to. The design itself is not exactly my cup of tea, but that is something I leave up to you. It represents you, not me. On a technical and layout level there are some things you might want to address in order to improve your site on that level:

  • the header shifts to outside the left side of the browser window as soon as I reduce the width of the browser window.
  • also doing this, the menu first shifts to the left as well, comes to a halt, and then disappear on the right side of the window
  • The layout doesn’t work out, the page seems like a collection of different elements, the header, body and footer seems to be done by 3 different people, they don’t fit together, they are different to each other (does that make sense?).

Technically it seems fine to me, except for the header issues I mentioned earlier. I think you need to look at the header first, detach the logo from the grass and let the grass just horizontally repeat itself. Make sure the menu is and stays in sight.

Visually … rethink this design to keep the elements together, it has to become a unity.

Steal, copy design make it your own, that’s how I learned it. Design for web is very different than for press, what I did for years. More fun though

Keep on going, I’m curious what you’re doing!

Best regards, Richard

960? 1060?

980px is what I aim for but it depends on the content to a large degree. I often have too add padding to reduce the text line length if its just going to be a single column.

Have a look at other sites to decide.

Personally I find your design a bit bland/insipid with so much white, give it a little colour and/or texture at least. Emphasized by the over elaborate (all singing and dancing) carousel. Also, can’t quite get over that the ‘grass’ is in the header, fixed footer might be more appropriate or get rid, let the name speak.

Just my bawbee’s worth  2c ha !

Richard, S - thank you for your input! I do appreciate it.

the header shifts to outside the left side of the browser window as soon as I reduce the width of the browser window.

  • also doing this, the menu first shifts to the left as well, comes to a halt, and then disappear on the right side of the window

  • ok - is there a way to fix this?

Thanks again - if something doesn’t work - then I need to know how to fix it…

S - What about blue above the grass - kind of like a sky

I love input and suggestions on how to fix…
