Newbie Frame Question

Hi there;

Working on my first big site and thought I’d try frames. The first page looks fine, but opens with a large white area on the right. Any way to get rid of that?

Also, is there any way to center the frame page or is it stuck on the left?

Thanks a bunch.

You could have all the top and bottom and centre pages (not the frames) aligned as centered.

Just a point, all your pages are graphic text, that is, the search engines can’t read a word from the whole site, and much slower to download. Was that intended?

Well. . . . yes, sort of.

Drat! I was hoping there was a way to center the whole frame business.

Alas, I’m a constipated, cranky old phart who has done graphics for 50 years, overly anal about how things look and still looking for a way to use wax and an X-Acto knife on the web. That, plus not really knowing what I’m doing I can be dangerous.

You’re right, I’ll try to unleash the type a bit, but what really drives me crazy is all that white space on the right Arrrgh.

Thanks again,

Alan

Nicely done so far

But I would avoid using frames in webdesign overall unless you really keep an eye to search engine friendliness.

Consider that a search engine spider, when visiting your main domain, just will see the master frame page. You should ensure that this page contains all important meta tags like title tag (very important), targeted keywords and a description.

Some people forget this and add meta tags only to their “contents” page, which will finally lead in a poor search engine readability.

If you like to keep the graphic text, you just need to ensure having enough information at the ALT tag (not sure at which character length Freeway interrupts automatically creating the ALT text for image text).

Hey, thanks for your help, appreciate it. As I get more comfortable using the software, I’ll experiment with the fonts. This has been a learning experience.

Will indeed fiddle with those meta/ALT tags.

Thanks again,
Alan
