Newbie ? What is the Max. Number of Pages Per Site?

Hi, is there a recommended maximum number of pages for creating a website in Freeway Pro without having to split it into sections please?

Suggestions and real world tips much appreciated. David

You might have to define splitting it into sections. (2 files, folders?) But my largest has been a 54 page site, but I have read people who have 100+ pages. I believe one person on this site has a 500+ site.

So the answer would be: Yes, you can have as many pages as you want, but each page should allow a novice user to navigate and interact simply as if they would be using any other website. That’s usually my rule.

I think David’s referring to the number that Freeway can handle rather
than the size of the actual site. As Freeway has to check and
re-compile every page for each update there must be some point at which
it makes sense to split a site into more than one Freeway file. (I
don’t know the answer, though!)

I don’t believe there is any practical limit that you are likely to
hit. I haven’t made any large sites with Freeway 5, but I did quite a
lot with Freeway 3. Around 300 pages or so, there was a definite slow-
down, mostly around saving the file and opening it. But once inside,
there was no practical downside to that.

Where it really starts to chafe is when you want to link to another
page, and you have a two-screens-tall menu of possible targets to
choose from.

That’s when you start thinking about splitting the site into multiple
documents, or in my case, start designing a content management system
and let the client deal with that many pages!

Thank yoi soooo much for your thoughtful replies.
Think I’ll just keep my site below 200 odd pages. Cheers, David
