News Ticker

Hi everyone!

I want to make a news ticker scrolling horizontally and control edges, fill, transparency etc.
Is there a more complex version than Ticker Tape 1.04 action somewhere?

Best Regards

Hi,
I use Arsa’s Flash News Ticker on a couple of sites. It is highly configurable. I just place a reference to it on the Freeway page using an iframe with html markup, which points it to the appropriate location on the site where the news ticker folder lives.
You can find it here:

I actually used the Carousel action for this on a client’s site. It
has an auto-scroll option that you can use to set the effect to fire
automatically on a timer. Draw all of your ticker items as layers,
stack them on top of one another, and group them. Then apply the
Carousel action to the group, and set the timing as you like. Since
it’s just a stack of DIVs, you can style them how you like, and they
will respect the rest of your layout.

Actually, the Ticker Tape action could be useful for this as well,
since Safari 2 and older is the only browser that doesn’t allow you
to style a text input, and it’s been subsumed by Safari 3, which does
allow it.

All you would need to do is extend the text input that the Ticker
Tape action creates, probably by giving it a class name. And then a
style sheet like this could make it appear any way you like:

input.tickertape { border: none; padding 4px; background: transparent }

or whatever you need in particular.

Hi all,

I tried the action Scrolling Banner which produces a news ticker alright, but at the same time gave me many hours of searching for an error.

A couple of days after installation I discovered that all my rollovers and slave images wasn’t working. I couldn’t understand why. It wasn’t until many hours of excluding all possibilities I found the inactive and unpublished action. It affected all pages in the site since they where viewed throw an iFrame.

So be aware of this.

Best regards

Ulf
