Oh dear, leopard probs

Hi

Well no exactly leopard probs but iLife probs or specifically iMovie.
I have a project to complete for a client that I’d shown a demo of, created in iMovie 06.
Curiously the new version does not seem to have some of the effects the customer wanted.
So I loaded iMovie o6 onto my new iMac (thinking that) I’d loaded it onto a seperae location on the HD - seems not as I have now lost the new version of iMovie, but more worryingly I seem to have lost functionality on iDVD.
Is there any way I can get the new version back on, witout losing other software I have on the machine? Im thinking that if I reinstall from the system CD’s I’ll lose other stuff like quark etc?
Solution anyone?
David

If you do an “Archive and Install” you should still have all your software and settings intact. This simply reinstalls the MacOS and leaves the rest alone…for the most part. Some system add ins that show up in the System Preferences window might be removed, but that is minor.

Thanks, so with the archive and install putting MacOs and leaving the rest alone, does it regard iMovie as part of the OS?
I guess archive and install is on the system disks?

Yes. All software that is installed with the OS would revert back to original install state. Once you have done the Archive and Install you then have to run the Software Update utility to get back to the most recent version of all Apple software that comes with the OS.
