Opportunity

I’m considering bringing on another person to help me with the ground-up redesign of a high-profile celebrity site which has already generated interest from an established software company (not Softpress) as the focus of an in-depth case study of their software which will be used in the redesign.

If you’re interested or have questions contact me off-list, my FWTalk name is “Todd” (or at HugeDomains.com), and I’ll give more details, but please, only if you have the below skills.

  • Hand-coding HTML5 and CSS (plus a familiarity with jQuery or a willingness to learn).
  • Practical experience with responsive design.
  • Experience with a large scale CMS (not WebYep, Pulse, Perch …).
  • Solid understanding of design and branding plus good aesthetic sensibilities.
  • Familiarity with the Sass preprocessor (or a willingness to learn the basics).
  • Familiarity with the Git version control system (or a willingness to learn the basics).
  • Experience working collaboratively or a willingness to try.

Not required but bonus points for:

  • RoR or PHP experience.

Hi Todd,

after checking all the points, except of the “willingness” there is nothing further in my personal portfolio.

But the client requirements you’re pointing out here is a good “to do in future” list, however I fear that one life isn’t enough. It is exactly what you need to play in the upper-class of webdesign and maybe only to challenge in team.

Even the “Top 5” on board are doing hard in challenging all?

Cheers

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Sometimes a willingness to jump in and learn-as-you-go is more important than being an expert at everything. I’ve found that it can also be the quickest way to learn new things. For example, I’m new to Git and Sass but I intentionally put myself into a position where I have to learn the basics of both. Necessity is a great motivator.

Thank you to those of you who expressed an interest in the job I posted the other day. It was nice to see some FWers throw their hats in even when it’s not a FW gig. In fact it’s pretty much the opposite of anything Freeway related.
