Optimizing Scans for PDF

HI Folks,

I have some printed academic journals (text and colored charts) which I’d like to convert to PDF files for user download from the author’s website. Can I scan these at 350 dpi to TIFF files and let Freeway optimize for PDF, or should I convert to PDF before importing to Freeway?

Any tips relating to creating multipage PDFs or PDF downloads much appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

Freeway doesn’t output or optimise PDFs, I’m afraid. If you want to
provide downloadable PDFs you’ll need to produce them externally
first.

Assemble them in whatever multipage app you like (InDesign, Pages,
Word, even TextEdit), then export to PDF if the app has that option
or choose File > Print and then save as PDF from the Print dialog if
not. (The latter option won’t produce particularly small PDFs, but
there are ways to reduce those down afterwards if that’s needed.)

Thanks Keith, what kind of file size per page should I be aiming for?
