I am using Mals and Paypal Payments Standard for my site, but it is forcing users to log into paypal, thus requiring a paypal account. I have talked to paypal and they said I should be able to get a split screen giving the user an option of paying via a credit card without creating a paypal account.
Where do I find the setting in either Paypal or Mals for “Paypal account optional” ? I have emailed Mals as well.

perhaps i don’t understand, but do you want to use paypal or don’t you?
do you want to use creditcard payments? but then without the paypal ??
go to the payment button in your cart setup, into the mals setup account.
thanks Eugenie. sorry if I wasn’t clear. yes, I want paypal as the main payment vehicle, but I would like buyers to have the option of either 1) logging into a paypal account to pay, or 2) paying with a credit card on the paypal site without logging in.
I spoke with two different people at paypal who both confirmed this is possible with Standard, plus I have seen it done on other sites in the past. One paypal rep suggested that the user would need to always clear their cache to see both options, as browsers and paypal will remember if they’ve been to paypal before and assume they have an account. They suggested a note to buyers to clear their cache–but that’s not a work around I’m willing to live with…plus, I had a friend try and it didn’t work anyway!

wel, paypal needs their customers to i suppose. i will look into it tomorrow ( do you mind??) because i’m sure i have it done like you want it. but quit frankly, i have the flue and am soooooo in need for my bed. ( red eyes… tears on my cheeks and fever hahaha)

Yes, we’ve been using PayPal a lot on our local animal shelter site and you find very quickly that you usually need the Pro account to really give you all the GOOD options!
