Overprint the black

When I have a CMYK document which I export to eps or pdf, does it set the black to overprint by default. For anything that is to be printed professionally, no matter how simple, this is often very important. For example, black text on a coloured background, the last thing you would want is the text to knock out the background colour, because this could lead to registration problems.

I don’t really know. Intaglio just uses Apple’s EPS and PDF export functions. It may even do different things in different OS versions.

I’ve done some research, and the default for overprinting is for it not to be set. Overprinting has to be set up for individual objects. If a program is not setting it up then it is not happening.

Not necessarily a techie issue. A person having a set of business cards printed could run into this, and be charged for fixing this by the printer.

Unfortunately I don’t think Apple provides a way to control the overprint setting in their graphics library.
