Page Size Problem

Hey Guys,

Hello first, I’m Robin and new here.
I couldn’t find a solution for my problem on here, so I thought, I’d simply post it:

Basically, I’ve set my page width and hight as said in the tutorials. The problem is, that I get to work in the right page size, but as soon as I review or upload the page, I get a lot of white space to the right and downwards. I can’t find an explanation for it…
Basically I can scroll down and to the right pretty far with only my background.
Have a look at http://djkevin.at

Anybody who knows how to fix that problem?

Thank you very much in advance and sorry if I’ve overlooked an existing thread talking about it.

Robin

Welcome!

There’s an item on the page called “Logo” that has a width of 2953px and a height of 3180px. Find that and change it’s dimensions and you should be all set. Quick hint, to see all the items on the page, click the word Site at the top of the Site Panel on the left hand side, you’ll then get a handy list of all the items on the page you were looking at (just click the same spot to go back to the page view).

Thanks for the tip. The big image is the tiny logo in the lower left corner. Does the page size really depend on a picture that has been resized anyway? Friends told me Freeway would resize my images automatically…

Thanky again

The image will be resized but if your graphic container is huge FW assumes that you meant it to be that size.

The thing is, the graphic container is about 2000 square pixel. But if I make it smaller, it cuts off my image. Damn, I’m confused right now…
It shows the image container much smaller than it actually is…

Okay, lets say it that way:
How do I make the image container smaller without destroying my page. Maybe I didn’t see something…

Thank you

Okay, even my resources folder shows me the image size it’s supposed to have… And the container is right around the image. Guys, did I understand anything wrong?
Or could the problem be caused by something else?

Thank you!

Have you grouped this image with another element on the page? Click once on it, and look in the Item menu. Is there an option labeled Ungroup, or just Group (grayed out, because you only have one thing selected)?

If you haven’t, try making the item the size you want it (ignoring the graphic getting cut off for the moment) then go to the Item>Graphic menu and select Original Size (assuming your image isn’t much larger or smaller than the container for it).

@waltd: Nope, it’s not grouped with anything (couldn’t find what you were describing but I looked it up in the elements list on the left)…

@Joe Billings: It shows in the size I want it. So I went to the graphic menu and clicked Original Size. Nothing changed…

This is not the only time this happens. I have it here as well: http://lube-clubbing.at
That page is FAR simpler and it’s got the same problem…
Maybe it’s easier to find the matter here…

Thank you so much, guys!

This is what I see on this page

<div id="Flyerpic" style="position:absolute; left:563px; top:0px; width:2304px; height:3001px; z-index:1"><img src="Resources/flyerpic.jpeg" border="0" width="461" height="600" alt="Flyerpic"

Which tells me that the Flyerpic div is 2304 x 3001 but the image inside it is 461 x 600

okay, and how do I change the container size without squeezing the image itself? It looks like te container was already where it belongs. I can’t see any other sign of it. just the high numbers in the Graphic Item Window…

With the Flyerpic div selected change it’s dimensions in the inspector to width 461 and height 600

You might have scaling turned on on the image. Double click the image and in the dialog that appears, select Graphic from the top of the dialog, then Preserve Size in the Sizing Behaviour dropdown: http://cl.ly/3w1U0f1r3m283s1J1c3U

Then you should just be able to resize the item so it’s the same size as the image inside and the image will be preserved. Even if it isn’t preserved you can just use the option I mentioned before (in the Item>Graphic menu) to make the image the original size.

It might be easier if you save your file and send it in to our support team who can get to the bottom of the problem for you. Please send it to support(a)softpress.com with a brief description of what’s happening (in the event that the person who works it hasn’t seen this thread).

Thank you guys.
I loaded it into the page again. Now it works. But I gotta say, that FW is being silly all the time anyway. Moving things around without my command, ect. But well. One problem solved. Hopefully it’ll stay like that.

Thank you again!
