page URLs

Our site has been up for many years and I"m just now starting to rebuild it from scratch. I don’t want to break the links the search engines have to our pages, so even though I would like to change the URLs to some of them, I guess I need to make sure they’re named exactly the same. Or is there some forwarding thing I can do?

Thanks.

First of all make yourself a list of all of the links in the current
site either manually or by using a tool like XML Sitemaps (http://www.xml-sitemaps.com
). In your new design either make sure that the existing URLs you care
about are preserved or, better still, make sure the old URLs redirect
to the new pages using an htaccess file. You should use 301 redirects
(permanent redirection).
Here’s a guide I just found using Google;

Tim.
