Pages load choppy or slow

Is there a way to make pages in Freeway scroll smoothly when launched? See broxroofing.com or lcscrusaders.com. Both of these sites seem to build in chunks instead of a smooth scrolling from top to bottom. What can I do to correct this?

Thanks, Clark

Do you have a site that you have built that we could compare to these? These sites are pretty normal, construction-wise. Nothing fancy or tricky being done within them.

Walter,
wilcofab.com and graniteridgehouses.com seem to scroll fairly smooth but laurenpnelson.com is kind of blocky. Is it that I have built the backgrounds differently?

Two things strike me:

  1. The text is all graphic instead of HTML. Not only does this slow things down, it is also useless for search engines. Furthermore, users can’t re-size it. Graphic text is good for decorative titles or logos, but for the main text you should use HTML.

  2. You’re using table-based design instead of CSS layers. Notably the navigation elements in http://broxroofing.com create a complex table and cut the background image into many parts. This would load faster if the menu items were in a separate layer so that the image behind them stayed in one piece.
