That is when when switching to page 2 it seems as if the whole page moves to the right, about 5 -10 px, only
because of a longer (or shorter) text in the left col.

This happens with center-aligned layouts when the content is long
enough to require a scrollbar on the right-hand side. There is no way
around the scrollbar appearing, but you could consider making every
page be long enough in some way as to need a scrollbar.
