"People" freezes Safari

Happy Monday everyone - I’ve wondered this before, I still can’t get to the “People” section, Safari kind of hangs and I have to shut and open it … any thoughts please ? Regards Roger

What version of Safari? It’s a long list and can take a moment to build. I seem to remember earlier versions of Safari being fussy with things like that. The current version seems fine to me.

I’m on an old G4 with tiger and Safari 3.1.2 Joe

That may be an issue. Walter might have more input on this.

A similar example is a webmail site, where I would click the link to “select all” so I could delete all the messages on the page. Doing that used to make Safari crash, but later versions don’t have that problem.

I like Safari, but in your case, you may want to try another browser for that particular page.

Have you tried this lately? A while back I took the Gravatars off of the list view, because they were causing the page to stall on loading in my iPhone. Each one of the images next to a person’s name was a separate http request to the Gravatar server, so on a really tall page, that adds up to something that could either crash or stall Safari (slow it to the point where you might think it had crashed). Gravatars still appear on regular people pages and in thread views.

Yes a good point Walter, I didn’t check recently whether it was stalling (I just assumed it was stalling 'cause it did last time I tried some weeks ago) - it doesn’t stall but it won’t load (well not after 10 mins) and it won’t in Ffox either but it does almost immediately in IE

Ahhhh - I’ve just looked in IE - I thought this (People) was where I could see a list of all the posts I’d started (I wanted to check on something I’d asked a few weeks ago) but it is only a list of members !

If you click on your name, then you can see a list of all the lists you belong to. Next to each list name, there is a link that will take you to a custom search result page showing only your posts.

Here’s you in Freewaytalk: http://freewaytalk.net/search_results.html?forum=5&person=95184
