PHP and GoDaddy

I’m trying to create an email PHP form on a site. The site is hosted at GoDaddy.
Creating and entering the PHP information went fine. However I am unable to make it function. Here is the site if someone could take a look and give me some guidance. http://www.oceaa.org/New%20site/emailforma.html

This one area that continues to give me trouble. Looking at the archives I see that I’m not alone. Thanks for your time, patience and help.

Mark

Hi Mark,
You are certainly not alone in struggling with this Action with GoDaddy. Unfortunately they make life a little more tricky for users to send email from forms like this and there are a few extra steps you need to take.

I see from your page that you are using the PHP Feedback Form Action (great) and that you have the GoDaddy option selected. It is my understanding that every Linux GoDaddy account should have the gdform.php file present by default and it should be stored at the very top of your site next to the home (index) page. Sometimes these are missing and you may need to ask GoDaddy to reinstall it for you.
Use an FTP application (Cyberduck is good and also free - http://cyberduck.ch/) to FTP into your GoDaddy account and see if you can find the gdform.php file. I suspect it is missing.

Also check that you have set the recipient’s email address using the GoDaddy control panel. Here’s how; http://help.godaddy.com/article/508
Regards,
Tim.

Thank you Tim,

I will be contacting GoDaddy today and follow up on the gdform.php. I downloaded Cyberduck. Now sure how to use it. Will have to spend some time reading today.
I did set up the recipient’s email using my own godaddy account for the testing. To use this I assume I will need to add all of the teachers and staff emails. This requires a lot of time for a simple form!
I look at it this way. I’m getting paid to learn.
Thanks
Mark

Welcome to the wonderful world of GoDaddy hosting.

Dont let all the GD hoop jumping put you off the PHPFF form - it is a great action and a breeze to use with a sensible hosting provider unlike Bob P’s peculiar set up.

There are many that have ditched GD for an easier life.

GoDaddy could not see the gdform.php. They said the previous web designer renamed all the files.

They sent me 3 links to help me resolve the problem.

Do any of these look promising?

Hi Mark,
Follow the steps in the first link, wait the recommended 15 minutes and the Action should now be able to find the gdform.php script it needs.
Regards,
Tim.

I used the link to reinstall the default scripts directory. The gdform.php is not present. Tech support said they could not help and referred me to this link.

I’m not sure where to go at this point.
Just a simple php form!
Why does GoDaddy have to be so difficult to use!!!
Thanks
