PHP form

My client has just contacted me saying that over the weekend they
tried the email contact form and it wasn’t working when they entered
in their address - they said they did it with a few address from their
company and each time it didn’t work.

Now this morning when we’ve tried it all seems to be working fine. My
client has been moaning saying they’ve had no enquiries from the site
over the weekend when they spent lots of money on a pay-per-click
campaign, and is sort of blaming the website for the loss.

Would this be a sporadic problem? or is that impossible i.e. it either
works or doesn’t. No changes have been made to the site and the host
says that there have not been any maintenace done on the server.

Advice wuld be very welcome!

Nathan,

Just out of interest you don’t have any sort of error checking when
the form is completed, as in, you can just press send with no data in
any fields.

On a second point, do you have any form of tracking for the email
campaign? or the page itself? That could help prove how many click
throughs the campaign achieved.

I have removed the validation on all the forms as per the clients
request. The page is tracked through google and there were around 200
hits to the contact page and 15 hits to the success.html page - this
is no indicator of how many people are trying the form though.

It all seems to work now (I think), so maybe there was something
strange going on. I have been asked to add CAPTCHA to the form and
also have been asked to make the page SSL secured, so it’s all going
to be looked at again.
