# Plain text v's HTML email

Hi
Anyone know if there are any statistics for what percentage of people have their email app set up to only view plain text emails (and not HTML emails)?
Obviously if it is a high percentage, there isn’t much point in sending HTML emails…

Sending HTML mail is an excellent way to get flagged as spam, too.
Then the user’s e-mail setting really doesn’t enter the picture,
because they never see it. As to the percentage, it would depend
largely on the age of the computer. Most modern PCs and Macs come with
e-mail clients that are configured from default to accept (and author)
HTML mail messages. But I can tell you from experience that I find
most HTML messages from clients or friends in the spam trap, unless I
have whitelisted them in advance.
