Platform-specific posts and searching

I’ve just introduced a new control in the “Start a new thread” form on FreewayTalk.net. If your question or tip is specific to Pro or Express, you may now indicate this with a tick of the appropriate box. Mail users, as ever, you may indicate the same thing with a [Pro] flag on the subject line (and that’s all this feature does, anyway).

In coming days I will add a similar control to the search boxes on each forum.

In the meantime, you can get the benefit of this by using the Boolean search operators + and -.

HTML borders might net you thousands and thousands of hits to plow through.

"HTML borders" (making a phrase by surrounding it in quotes) would reduce this somewhat, but probably still give you quite a few things to look through.

"HTML borders" +express would cut the results down substantially.

"HTML borders" +express -pro would probably return the most focused set of results.

Give this a try, and let me know if you think of any other features to improve the FreewayTalk experience! (I can’t guarantee that I can or will add them all, but if you grumble to yourself, then nobody gets anything better.)

Where else would you get such a speedy response to a user request/criticism.

As ever Walter you are the dogs b***ocks.

I’m afraid this site now is screwed up on Safari 3.2.1. The menu now is under the posts on any in-post view. So that means that when you goto Freewaytalk.net that the site looks normal, but when you click on a post now it pushes the side-bar menu underneath the posts.

Hopefully Waltd noticed that.

Let me add that it only occurs when you’re not logged in.

Thanks, I had my cookie set to keep me logged in, so I never saw that. It’s fixed now.
