Hi,

Does anyone know how to produce a pop up box to ask the visitor whether they want o join an email list?

Thanks

I am not sure if you want a pop up box to ask that. My feeling is that the majority of people will hit no. I would just have an email signup embedded into the site

I prefer modal dialogs - they only “pop up” when the user requests them by
clicking a link or button. Do it like that and improve your internet karma.

Hey Big Erns,

when you say model dialogs, do you mean click here to add to the mailing list type thing?

cheers

It is definitely possible to embed a newsletter. I am just not sure if a pop up is the right way to do it

A pop-up never is. Peter, you would be doing your client a professional favor by explaining him how this is a (very) bad idea. Such a pop-up will put anyone off.

when you say model dialogs, do you mean click here to add to the mailing
list type thing?

Here’s an example of what I’m saying… http://tinyurl.com/lgv25zt - click
the Subscribe Now button and what appears is an html form that was hidden
until the user requested it. They can easily send it away if they change
their mind.

Hey everyone,

thanks for the info, I will persuade client to go with the Big Erns model, now I’ve seen it in action.

Cheers
