[Pro] A calendar for Freeway

Greetings,

I would like to be able to put an ongoing calendar into a Freeway site, where the client could edit events and then they will appear in the site.

I understand there is an option with Google, but are there any other options for a calendar ?

Many thanks,

Rich

There are a host of solutions out there that can be easily integrated into a FW site.

Have a look at http://www.hotscripts.com or http://www.scripts.com/php-scripts/

There are many free and some just cheap.

You dont specifically say what type of calendar you are looking for but there are many to choose from.

Once you have found something that you think will do the job for you we can help you get it working in your FW page

If the client is Mac-based, I used Mike Yenco’s Agenda http://www.yenco.com/ to set up a calendar for this website: http://www.westchesterstriders.org/calendar/201012.html- Note not currently up to date.

He has instructions as to how to integrate with Freeway. While it’s essentially an agenda program, it is a separate program, costs $40, and integrates pretty well with Freeway – you create your own page, put in some script and upload to your site.

The only downside is that client would need to be on Mac and be comfortable uploading one folder to the website if and when new calendar events are created – Agenda generates a new folder with html info. You have to upload and replace the old folder as you make updates. Not difficult, but need ftp capability.

Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions.

The client works on a pc, but I have designed his site in Freeway Pro 5.5.

The amount of calendars on the site that you mention, Dave is daunting. Can you narrow it down a bit and offer me some options.

The client is a church, and they want the calendar on the site to be able to post church events and display a calendar on a page of their site.

Thanks,

Rich

The boys at StivaSoft seem to have a good reputation for their helpfulness and they have a couple that might work for you - have a look at PHP Event Calendar | PHP Calendar Script | PHPJabbers

I haven’t used it personally.

Thanks, Dave.

You are a great help !! I so appreciate your willingness to guide me.

It looks good, but I need one that looks like a “month” calendar page, that could be changed to day view, or week view.

This one only appears to go in a list.

Thanks,

Rich

This one is probably overkill, was for me anyway, but it has all the views as options that you mentioned.

Your calendar area is completely blank in Safari. I looked at the
source and saw the link for the actual calendar, which is at http://www.my.calendars.net/bruton
and looks fine.

Your source code includes a tag I’ve never seen – ilayer – just
before the iframe code for the calendar. You might want to look at
taking that out, because it’s not a standard tag and may be confusing
to more standards-oriented browsers. This tag was invented by Netscape
somewhere between Netscape 3 and 4, and hasn’t been seen much since.

Hi Walter

When you look at the page - brutontown.co.uk - is it still blank in your copy of Safari??

I can see it on my iMac, iPhone and iPad.

Does any body else get the same problem.

Now it’s working fine. Did you change anything? I haven’t restarted –
not even Safari itself – so I don’t think anything has changed here.

Hi Walter

The only thing I have done was to remove the line of code that pointed to Netscape. I’ve never had a problem with this calendar.

Thanks for pointing it out.

DeltaDave3, thanks for the nice words. We keep track on all forum posts around the net where people write about us and ask for help. So it’s almost impossible to miss a question from a client and not to reply to it

sampolfonz3, did you see our regular PHP Event Calendar. We can combine both so you can have two different views if you want.

Lee,

With the calendar that you use, do you know how to delete a scheduled event on one day that is part of a repeating event?

ex. Let’s say you had a coffee meeting set for every Friday at 5pm for the next 4 months. but in 3 weeks it is cancelled. Do you know how to just delete the appt in 3 weeks and not the entire repeating appt?

Thanks!!

I really don’t need a calendar on any my sites and this thread is
typical of many on the the Freeway list.

I found this thread fun to follow and extremely useful as I have many
other threads before.

To follow the dialog between users really helps to get a great
understanding of the breath Freeway has and what it can do, with the
help from the many expert users.

I now know where to look in the future, or maybe this’ll be the excuse I
need to put a calendar on the next site I do?

A huge thanks to everyone.

A bit late, but all the best for this New Year …

Cheers Peter
