[Pro] Add a blog

That’s a good point about the blog. Though someone could also lose interest in posting to their FB page.

Assuming for a moment you would blog with at least some frequency it can be quite beneficial from a search engine aspect. When I added a blog the site traffic jumped and it gets indexed with far more frequency. Despite that I am by no means a prolific blogger my modest efforts have yielded noticeable and consistent results far beyond what I was getting prior to the blog.

I’ve several past clients who really, really wanted a blog/news page and as you indicated after a short time they stop adding content. Looks and feels bad.

good facebalk suggestion as long as they don’t set all the privacy settings that only allows for ‘friends’ to view, its happened.

Agree re. FB also.

I suggest making the post titles relevant and keywordy. A post I made on my own photography website blog about Glen Girnaig (Loch Moraig to Glen Girnaig) appears at the top of page two on a google search (google uk) - glen girnaig. loch moraig on the other hand is on the first page for that search, given that’s the first name I guess. Obviously it will depend on subject, frequency of subject throughout the web, etc…
My post was made on the 16 May 2014 . Rather good return I think.

Exactly. A good example.

A blog can be an extremely potent tool for generating traffic. I’m so glad I added one because quite frankly, at the time, I didn’t see myself as having anything to say. I’m glad I was wrong.

Basically I have to agree, that an external blog system (more or less embedded into a social environment or system) increases traffic and reachability.

But what I miss (and that’s the gist of this and other lists) is indeed a small internal Freeway friendly (self hosted) blog opportunity without installing big extra stuff such as WY, Pulse, Perch or whatever. Blogger is fine but honestly this far, far away installing (extra backend somewhere) and all the above offer “trillions of functions” not necessary for crating some lil “extended” notes.

I have some hope that Walter’s Inlay could close this gap between FB (extra quick notes) and WP (put the hammer out).

This blog system should have (btw) following requirements:

  1. collecting posts in a sidebar/archive

  2. ‘Tag’ able so searchable

  3. RSS feed stuff

So it doesn’t matter if someone posts a lot or not - it’s well embedded in the main project.

This could be (one of) the big chances of Inlay - the one that would attract me the most.

Cheers

Thomas

Can I put a ‘like’ on Thomas’s suggestion?
