If I understand correctly if I apply “advanced fade” to a graphic I should have some control.
If I apply fade or advanced fade I get the same result without any apparent control.
Missing something?

Open the Actions palette, advanced lets you change the opacity on more
of the image than fade, which only has left or right/top or bottom.
