[Pro] Advice

I’m not totally satisfied with the quality of logos Freeway generates.

I was wondering how you guys do this!?

Normally I save my vector logo in illustrator for web devices, as png-24. in Freeway I make sure it is a PNG with million colors.

Is there a better way so my output becomes better?

Thx

Freeway scales images using the “bilinear interpolation” algorithm, rather than the “bicubic interpolation” used by Photoshop. It does this for reasons of speed, since it generates these scaled images on the fly during the publishing process. For complex images, like a landscape photo, the difference is nearly indistinguishable. But on an image containing flat areas of color and sharp edges, there can be some resulting blurriness or distortion of curves.

The very best results will be had by generating your logo image in Illustrator at exactly the size you will use it in Freeway, and then importing that image as a “pass-through” (checkbox in the Import dialog) so that Freeway will not compress it or re-generate it. This makes it impossible to scale, composite with another image, rotate, or crop – so you have to figure out what size and shape you need first.

What I usually do is use the Freeway-generated version during the design process – for speed and flexibility – and then when I go through the final layout, tightening up the output, I will measure the element and create a “sweetened” version directly in Illustrator.

Of course, do not forget to size and then export the logo from Illustrator
in one of the web-friendly formats (jpg, png) prior to using it as a
pass-thru image in FWP.
